The Benefits of SBTA Basic Membership

Signed books for your readers
Your readers will receive books signed by you, and they can be signed specifically to them or a person of their choosing.

Hassle-free
We deal with everything involved in the credit card transaction. We collect and remit sales tax, calculate postage needed, and you will use our return address to protect your privacy. You can let your readers know, through your website, newsletter, interviews, etc. that they can receive personally signed copies in an easy, secure transaction.

Increased Profit Margin
You'll be selling your signed books on the web immediately, making 75% of the sale. Traditionally-published books sold through the site will earn a much higher "royalty" rate for you than other sales channels. Since you set your own price for the book, you control the amount of profit. Give discounts to encourage backlist sales, sell new listings at retail price - it's up to you.

Unlimited book listings
There are no additional listing fees for any books – ever. Your membership covers unlimited books listed on the site.

Social Media
Each book listing page includes opportunities for readers to add a review, or email a friend about the book.

Graphic for your Site
You'll receive a linked graphic for your website, taking readers directly to a single book page, or to a list of all your books on the site.

If at anytime you wish to cancel your membership, simply contact Customer Service. Your next annual billing will be cancelled and your listings removed from Signed by the Author at the end of your billing cycle.

Order Fulfillment
At no extra charge, and at your request, we will warehouse your signed (non-personalized) books in our facility and when your book is ordered, send it out for you. Feel free to tuck a promotional postcard or bookmark into the book before sending your shipment to us!

Request special coupon codes to use in your marketing for a small, one-time set-up fee.
Use unique codes to track the effectiveness of different promotional efforts.
You specify the code, the offer (a percentage off, a dollar amount off, etc.), and the expiration date.

Give away Free Promotional items
Set up freebies and giveaways, like postcards, bookmarks, free downloads, etc. for a small, one-time fee.
Your freebie will be listed on your Book page, and in our Author Giveaways section.

List your title as a Featured Book
For one month your title will be listed under Featured Books on the home page and at the top of the category page where your book is listed. See the link for applicable fee.

Get added exposure as a Featured Author
For one week you'll be featured as our Featured Author on the home page and on a special interview page. Let us schedule it for you, or set it up to coincide with the release of a new book. These spots are limited to one author per week, only 52 per year. See the link for applicable fee.

Cancel Anytime
If at anytime you wish to cancel your membership, simply contact Customer Service. Your next annual billing will be cancelled and your listings removed from Signed by the Author at the end of your billing cycle. For Premium Members using our Order Fulfillment, you will be sent instructions on how to have your books returned to you.

  • Book Listing Only - $25 per title.
    When a reader purchases your book you'll receive order information and a postage-paid label to mail the book.
    Click here to list a single title.
  • Basic Membership - $47 per year, unlimited listings
    Readers can request personalization for an extra fee, earning you more money per book.

    personalization information if applicable, the buyer's contact info, and a postage-paid label to mail the book.

  • Premium Membership - $97 per year, unlimited listings
    We ship your signed books for you, covering packaging, postage and all the hassle.
    If a reader wishes to have the book personalized, you will receive the order and the label (see previous), and will also earn increased revenue from the personalization surcharge.

[2] Let readers know where to buy your signed books.
  • You'll receive a graphic to place on your website, and instructions for linking to your book(s).
  • We recommend regular contact with your readership, through social media or email, to let them know where they can purchase books signed personally for them. For Basic and Premium Members, readers are able to specify to whom they'd like the book signed by clicking "Personalize."
[3] Your book is shipped
  • Book Listing Authors and Basic Members sign the book, affix the label, and mail from home.
  • Premium Members do nothing - Signed by the Author ships your book for you.
   

Readers can use a major credit card or Paypal to make their purchases. We collect any applicable sales tax and pass it to the state. There is no shipping cost to you.
You will receive quarterly payments for 75% of the retail price of all books sold in the prior quarter.
